The Dangerous Power of Clutter

More often than not, it’s bigger than we realize!

In the philosophy of feng shui, every object in our space carries with it the energy of its history. When we hang on to things that no longer serve us, we maintain a weight that burdens the “chi” or life-force that would prefer to be freed  that it might assist us in living our most abundant and joyful life.

One of the most powerful things we can do for ourselves to combat clutter is to take a few days and do a systematic assessment of our possessions and make a decisive game plan. We’ll pay particular attention to areas where things get stashed and then forgotten. Though we may be barely conscious of the mass in the attic, our subconscious is well aware, and it does affect our experience.

When we hold on to “stuff” that we don’t really want or need but for some reason keep, we give ourselves a message of scarcity. We need to have those things “just in case” because we will be unable to manifest or materialize what we need when we need it.

It may take a bit of courage, but it will be well worth it to clear those possessions somewhat ruthlessly. It’s where being decisive comes into play. Does it give you joy? Do you have a plan for it? Will it appreciate in value such that holding on to it makes sense?

If the objects are in such disrepair that they would not be suitable to give a friend, send them to the dump. Otherwise, let’s give them away to someone in need or the local thrift.

When we commit to trust that something even better is on its way from the Universe, we make a positive contract between ourselves and the Divine. This very act clears the way for us to make a happy discovery: the space created by the absence of clutter becomes filled with an invisible- yet powerful- life force and energy which feeds our dreams, intentions and goals.

Happy clearing! You’ll love the results.
